FE and PE Exam

Privacy: one log, and what it holds

Nothing you do while reading or solving problems here is recorded: the site has no sign-up, sets no cookies, runs no analytics and carries no advertising. The single exception is pressing an app button, which our redirect logs. This page lists what that log holds.

Your answers never leave the page

Problem scoring runs in a small script on the page itself. Your picks, your score and the solutions you open are never transmitted or stored, and a reload resets the set. Typefaces load from fe-and-pe-exam.com, and the pages call no outside scripts.

What an app-button tap stores

Every app button points at go.fe-and-pe-exam.com, a redirect operated by us. It reads the device type and forwards you: Apple devices to the App Store listing, Android devices to Google Play where a listing exists (at present only for PE HVAC&R), everything else to that exam's practice problems here. On the way it stores one row per tap:

  1. Which tap: source page, button, exam, destination, timestamp.
  2. Browser: the user-agent header and the operating system derived from it.
  3. Connection: IP address; the autonomous system (ASN) number and the operator's name; an approximate location (country, region, city, time zone) guessed from the IP; the code of the edge server that handled the request.
  4. Link details: the referring URL and any query parameters.

Your name and email are never in it, since the site never asks for them, but your IP address and a rough location are. We use the rows to learn which pages bring readers to an app and to tell people from bots. We do not sell the rows or pass them to advertisers.

The campaign tag on store links

Store links carry fe-and-pe-exam.com as a campaign tag, so the app's publisher can credit this site with the install. The tag is identical for every visitor and identifies the website only.

Hosting and how to leave no row

Our web host receives standard request data (IP address, user-agent, the page requested) in order to deliver pages and block abuse. Tap rows have no set deletion date for now. With no inbox on the site there is also no channel for deletion requests, so if you prefer not to create a row, don't use the app buttons: open the store and look for the app by its name.
